Some days, mental health feels less like a battle cry and more like a whisper: “Lord, I am tired.” The beautiful truth of Psalm 34:18 is that God does not step away from our pain. He steps closer.
Being brokenhearted does not mean you are faithless. Feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted does not mean you are spiritually defective. It means you are human, and humans need care.
God meets us in the honest place. Not the polished-up Sunday version. Not the “I’m fine” version. The real one. The one that cries in the car, lies awake at night, feels numb, or wonders how to take the next step.
Healing often begins when we stop running from pain and start bringing it into the light. God is not afraid of your sadness. He is not offended by your questions. He is near.
And sometimes His nearness looks like prayer. Sometimes it looks like Scripture. Sometimes it looks like counseling, community, rest, medication, better boundaries, or finally telling the truth to someone safe.
You are not alone in the valley. God is near there too.
